“Building the mining sector to be the cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy”

In a major highlight for Nigeria’s mining sector, Zamfara State Governor His Excellency Dauda Lawal is set to address delegates at the Nigeria Mining Week in Abuja on November 19, 2024. This influential event, held from November 18–20 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, will bring together key players from Nigeria’s burgeoning mining industry, aiming to establish the sector as a cornerstone of the nation’s economy. This year marks the ninth edition of Nigeria Mining Week, underscoring its vital role in shaping the future of mining in Nigeria.

The theme for this year’s conference is “From the Inside Out: Building the Mining Sector to be the Cornerstone of Nigeria’s Economy,” a nod to the country’s commitment to sustainable growth through resource development. Governor Lawal’s anticipated address, “Collaborative Federalism Framework: How can we create a sustainable framework for a cooperative and collaborative mineral resource federalism framework?” highlights the importance of federal and state collaboration in fostering a thriving mining sector. As the leader of Zamfara, a state rich in mineral resources, Governor Lawal’s insights are expected to resonate deeply with attendees seeking to strengthen the sector through unified governance.

Nigeria Mining Week: A Hub for Stakeholders and Investors

Nigeria Mining Week brings together an extensive network of mining pioneers, investors, regulators, suppliers, and service providers. Organized by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) in partnership with PwC Nigeria and the Vuka Group, and hosted by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, the event provides a forum for discussing policies, investment opportunities, and innovations shaping Nigeria’s mining industry.

Sponsorship and Industry Support

The conference has gained longstanding support from prominent industry sponsors. This year’s “Diamond Plus Sponsor,” Titan Minerals Ltd., returns for the third year in a row. “Nigeria Mining Week has been a great hub for bringing together stakeholders committed to the progress of Nigeria’s mining sector,” states Fadi A. Ghazale, Managing Director of Titan Minerals Ltd. In addition to Titan Minerals, Diamond Sponsors include major players such as the African Finance Corporation, Kursi Group, Mikano Motors, Segilola Resources Operation Limited, and Sinogrand.

Gold Sponsors like Beak Consultants and Kam Holding Limited, Silver Sponsors such as PanAfrican Equipment, and a range of Bronze Sponsors, including ENR Advisory and Solar Nigachem Limited, reinforce the commitment from key industry players who recognize the immense potential of Nigeria’s mining sector.

A Platform for Collaboration and Growth

Since its inception nine years ago, Nigeria Mining Week has become a critical platform for stakeholders in Nigeria’s public and private mining sectors. Organized by MAN in collaboration with PwC Nigeria and the Vuka Group, it continues to attract industry leaders and facilitate discussions on policies, investment, and innovation. With partners such as DRC Mining Week and DRC-Africa Battery Metals Forum, and premier media support from Mining Review Africa, the event is cementing its reputation as the region’s premier mining gathering.

As November 18 approaches, anticipation builds for Nigeria Mining Week, where Governor Lawal and other leading experts will outline a shared vision for sustainable growth through responsible mining practices, encouraging industry resilience and economic diversification.
